DOCS Education founder and president, Dr. Michael D. Silverman, was recently the guest on Gary Takacs's popular The Thriving Dentist Show, where the two dental industry luminaries took the opportunity to look back on the history of oral sedation dentistry, and peer ahead to its future.
This week, in lieu of our own Good News Dentistry™ podcast, we're pleased to feature Gary's conversation with Dr. Silverman. It is "must" listening whether you're a veteran DOCS Education member or a dentist who is considering adding oral sedation to your treatment offerings.
Gary, a well-known practice management consultant, is now in his seventh year producing and hosting The Thriving Dentist Show, where the mission is to help dentists attain personal, professional, and financial satisfaction.
Gary, who is not a dentist, also co-owns Life Smiles Dental Care in Phoenix along with Drs. Paul Nielson and Tim Schmidt, both of whom are graduates of multiple DOCS Education courses.
"We use oral conscious sedation every week, and it allows us to help patients and do dentistry that is truly life-changing," Gary tells Dr. Silverman. "It's a powerful part of our practice."
Although DOCS Education has been training oral sedation dentists for almost two decades, "nationwide, demand for oral sedation dentistry still far outstrips the number of qualified dentists who provide it," Dr. Silverman reports.
