Move over “Call Me Maybe”—there’s a new summer song making the rounds on the internet. The Oregon Dental Associations viral ode to proper dental care “Teach Me How to Brushy,” based on the 2010 hit from Cali Swag District “Teach Me How to Dougie,” has taken the tubes by storm over the last two weeks gaining almost 500,000 views. "We wanted to create a fun, interactive tool parents can use to get their kids excited about good dental habits," Oregon Dental Association president-elect Dr. Jill Price, one of the stars of the video, said in a statement to ABC News. "The mouth is a major health center in the body; unhealthy mouths can lead to diabetes, heart issues, and worse. But rather than lecture parents and expect that lecture to reach their kids, we wanted to create a hub for good facts that families will actually want to check out." The video, whose infectious tune will have you tapping your toes for hours, features toothbrush-toting toddlers, a flossing fuzzy mascot and former Portland Trail Blazer Jerome Kersey. Within one week “Brushy” was highlighted on Good Morning America, The Today Show, Huffington Post and countless other online publications. Produced on a modest budget with a goal to spread the importance of oral health, the ODA’s message had certainly been heard. Make no mistake: this is how you produce a PSA people will see.
