Linda Edgar, DDS, of Federal Way, Washington, has been elected Vice President of the Academy of General Dentistry. Results were announced last week in San Diego during the AGD’s annual conference. Dr. Edgar practices dentistry jointly with her husband, Bryan. Edgar Family Dentistry treats patients ranging from young children through seniors. Dr. Edgar sought the Vice Presidency following a long affiliation with the AGD, from whom she received a mastership in 2002. She served on the AGD Professional Relations Committee as well as numerous Board task forces and committees. Among Dr. Edgar’s many other contributions is service to her alma mater, the University of Washington’s School of Dentistry. She helped to develop the first Advanced Technology Clinic at the institution and was awarded a Lifetime Dean’s Service Award in 2009. Among the areas cited as Dr. Edgar’s priorities are recruitment and advocacy on behalf general dentists. These should be allowed to perform procedures according to their training, she has said. Supporters of Dr. Edgar’s successful candidacy consistently praised her ability to build consensus among divergent views and championship of education. “There is no one I would rather have than Linda representing me on a daily basis at the AGD,†Dr. Connie White said.
