How much is John Lennon’s rotten molar worth? Alberta dentist Dr. Michael Zuk decided it was worth over $31,000 after winning the tooth at U.K.'s Omega Auctions auction in Stockport, England on November 7. A fan of famous smiles, Zuk has written a book on celebrity teeth and told the Canadian Broadcasting Organization that he felt he needed the tooth as soon as he heard it was up for auction. "It's a fair chunk of coin for a tooth," Zuk said. "It's pretty ugly, most people are quite appalled by it. “ Zuk plans on displaying his tooth at his Alberta surgery center as well as show it at dental schools. While the tooth is too old to be DNA tested, Karen Fairweather, the owner of Omega Auction house, told CNN last month that she has no doubt about the tooth’s authenticity. When Lennon had his tooth pulled in the 60s, he gave it to his housekeeper, which she gave as a souvenir to her daughter, who was an avid Beatles fan. The tooth eventually became part of Alan McGee’s personal memorabilia collection, the co-former of independent record label Creation Records.
